Already Know Lucy Nesheim!!
Lucy Nesheim has been an integral part of the Brainerd
community for 47 years. From her work in local government
and healthcare to her decades running a small business,
Lucy has had her finger on the pulse of Brainerd her
entire adult life.Lucy grew up with her brother and
sister in St. Paul. Her father was an immigrant from
Poland and her mother was of Irish descent. She moved to
the Brainerd area when she married lifelong Brainerd
resident Frank Nesheim in 1957. She started her career in
healthcare, first at the Miners Hospital in Crosby (which
is now the Cuyuna District Hospital) and later as a
radiology technician at the Brainerd Regional Treatment
Center.
Lucy's sister passed on, but her brother and his wife
have also chosen to make this part of the state home.
I know Lucy-I
bought bait from her!
Lucy and Frank owned and operated Nesheim Bait & Tackle
and Minnow Hatchery for 35 years-supporting the fishing
habits of people throughout the area and around the state.
In her years with Nesheim Bait she learned in great detail
the struggles and joys of running a small business in
rural Minnesota-and that there is a lot to know about
luring and catching fish!
I know Lucy-I went
to school with her kids!
Lucy and Frank raised four children: Christine, Julie,
Nancy and Eric. They are proud of the education and
quality of life their children were able to enjoy in
Brainerd-and they're excited to welcome their four
grandchildren for visits whenever possible. Lucy is
committed to using her position on the City Council to
preserving that way of life.
Her personal interest in area schools is ongoing-two of
her grandchildren live in the district!
I know Lucy-My
vote helped put her on the city council!
Lucy was first elected to the Brainerd City Council in
1988. She now serves on the Safety and Public Works
Committee

Hospital Advisory Committee, School District 181's
Community Education Board, and others have supplemented
Lucy's political involvements as she strives to help those
around her. Lucy also has great cultural interest-she was
a charter member of the Brainerd Art Club and enjoys oil
painting and her association with other artists.
Lucy has been tireless in her work to build strong
communities and improve the fortunes of all area
residents.
I know Lucy-She's
a part of my community!

Brainerd are many. From
her colleagues in city government and her friends from way

every day, Lucy talks to and hears from a lot of people.
All of those people have shaped the way she sees the
district and the issues that affect it. |
